A mobile chemotherapy unit named after Gloria Hunniford’s daughter will be coming to Dover on a regular basis to enable patients to receive treatment closer to their homes.

The cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow has given the unit to the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust .

The unit will provide chemotherapy treatment in Hythe, Herne Bay and Whitstable as well as Dover.

The unit is named Caron in memory of BBC television presenter Caron Keating, who died from cancer.

Gloria Hunniford said: “I love the name Hope for Tomorrow and, during her seven years of battling cancer, my courageous daughter Caron lived by the positivity of hope.

“It is such a privilege that this unit is to be named after Caron and I know how proud she would be that this invaluable work is being carried out.”

Michael Keating, Caron’s brother, was among those at the launch of the unit in Canterbury on Monday.
