Firefighters in Deal look all set to break their Christmas charity collection record.
They collected a record figure on their first day and will continue to collect outside Marks and Spencer in the High Street, with their buckets and trailer until Christmas Eve.
This year they are dividing their donations between local charities and the National Firefighters Charity. This is the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families. They help hundreds of thousands of individuals by providing world-class treatment and support services.
It costs £9 million a year to keep the charity running and, with no government funding, they are reliant on the generosity and enthusiasm of supporters.
Crew manager Evans said: “Thank you to all those who give for your continuous support. We will also be out promoting community safety, so feel free to speak to us if you’d like any advice.”
