A Ringwould resident has condemned fly-tippers who dumped around 30 tyres and other garbage in the village.

Left on the side of the road linking Ringwould to Coldblow, Michael Williams has described the act as one of the worst he has seen.

Mr Williams of Manor Mews, who keeps an eye out for litter in the village, discovered the rubbish on Thursday and reported it to the council.

He said: “I do a bit of a litter pick every other week around the village.

“This was one of the worst incidents I’ve seen, by far.”

Only ten days ago he discovered a selection of car parts in the same spot, which he also reported.

He said: “How on earth can you get through to these people? I just despair the contempt people have for the country and the environment.”

A spokesman for Dover District Council said: “We are aware of this incident, and this has been passed to our contractors to be cleared.

"Fly-tipping is a criminal offence, and where there is evidence of those responsible for fly-tipping, we will look to prosecute wherever appropriate.”
