A Dover Big Local meeting suggested that creativity is what will bring the community closer together.
Big Local, an organisation that is managed by Local Trust, has issued Dover with a £1million lottery grant to spend on the area in the next 10 years.
The plan is to somehow improve Dover as a town and to make it a more exciting place to be.

The most recent meeting, which took place on December 11, elaborated on the idea that it should be put towards the younger generation.

Carl Adams, the Local Trust south east representative, said: “There are some great ideas around the arts and creativity.
The initiative is to merge creative ideas with that of students, teenagers and anyone who wants to be part of the scheme.

Chairman, Ross Miller, added:“We want to put young people into the process.

“We will help loads of people through our networks to deliver what they want to deliver.”

The grant cannot be spent on things like education or primary health care because those areas are already covered by other statutory bodies.

But the funding is there to brighten up parts of Dover in the way residents see fit.

Parliamentary candidate, Clair Hawkins, also attended the meeting and was thrilled to be involved in Big Local's latest discussion.

These meetings are held in various locations on a monthly basis.

All residents of Dover are welcome to attend.
