Watch Britannia's
impressive appearance.

The impressive figure of Britannia, complete
with shield and trident, has made her annual appearance at Dover
Town Hall for the Festival Proms Concert.

Various local singers have taken on the role
and this year it was the turn of Dover drama and singing teacher
Marie Kelly, who has also performed in the West End.

The Proms Concert, which features a full
orchestra and choir, always ends with the traditional Last Night of
the Proms favourites, including Rule Britannia, and the audience
and chorus were soon entering into the spirit of the occasion.

This year’s concert had an aviation theme, to
mark the centenary of Bleriot’s pioneering flight across the
Channel, and music included Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying
Machines, Come Fly With Me, Fly Me To The Moon, and, of course, the
White Cliffs of Dover.

Works by Handel and Haydn, and a medley from
Les Miserables were also on the programme, but it was Britannia who
ruled the airwaves.

The concert raised money for The Teenage
Cancer Trust.
