Dover Grammar School for Boys has partly shut until Friday following a burst pipe that ruptured over the weekend.

The school, located on Astor Avenue, made the decision to only allow some year groups into school following the excess water that reached some of the teaching areas.

The science wing, which consists of three floors is without electricity following the incident.

Work is ongoing to try and dry out other areas which have been affected.

Headmaster, Dr Richard Moxham, issued a letter to parents and guardians today, apologising for any inconvenience caused.

He said: “One of the side-effects of all this is a continuing interruption of the school’s internet and email access.

“With almost a quarter of all our teaching spaces out of action, we are prioritising public examination classes in what will be a phased return to normal service.”

All students in years 10,11,12 and 13 are expected back at school tomorrow, while years seven, eight and nine will not return until Friday.

Parents and guardians will be notified about any changes on Thursday at 3pm.
