A car collided with another vehicle and ended up on its roof in a lake.

The crash happened just after 4pm at Cottington Lakes on the A258 Deal to Sandwich Road.

The driver - a man in his 50s - managed to pull himself out of his car, believed to be a yellow MG.

The A258 has been closed.

He was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

The other vehicle stopped at the scene.

An eye-witness said many people stopped to help the driver.

Eye witness Simon Jenkins said: "I think it was a yellow MG. You can only just see it from the road."

He added: "I'm not sure what happened. Road surface and visibility was good."

Firefighters from Deal were warned about the crash at 4.20pm but police decided they were not needed.

Crew manager Paul Evans said: "It was confirmed there was no one in the car so there was no life risk and so we weren't turned out."

Environment Agency were organising recovery of the vehicle.
