A BABY born after the mother had been involved in a serious road accident on Saturday morning is in a critical condition in hospital.

The pregnant woman was driving a Ford Fiesta on the A258 between Dover and Deal at around 9.50pm when the crash took place.

She went into labour and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, where her baby was delivered still born by Caesarean section but was resuscitated.

The mother also remains in hospital with serious injuries. Her 18-month-old child, who was in the back of the car, was unharmed.
