College remembers Holocaust

Pupils at Castle Community College, Deal, have been discovering the significance of Holocaust Memorial Day in preparation for a special presentation and exhibition.
Thursday, January 27, was chosen as the date for the international event as it was the date in 1945 that the largest Nazi killing camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated.
Children from the school in Mill Road will be making a presentation and showing their exhibition at 2pm on Thursday next week at Deal Town Hall, to be followed by a short commemorative service nearby at 3pm outside St George's Church, High Street.
Deal Mayor Cllr Ben Bano will be attending and he said all are welcome, to the exhibition and the service.
He added: "I am delighted that once again students from Castle Community College are taking such a keen interest in Holocaust Memorial Day.
"This year's theme is Untold Stories and is an opportunity to focus on the many examples of heroism and courage, not just during the holocaust but in subsequent genocides such as in Bosnia and Rwanda."
