The sink hole in College Road in Deal

Kent Highways has filled a sinkhole in College Road in Deal, reopening the residential road.

The road was closed between Harold Road and Sydenham Road this morning whilst KCC workmen dealt with the hole.

The sinkhole, which was first reported yesterday, exposed a gas pipe.

Cllr Wayne Elliott said: “KCC had been along in the afternoon. They’d put some bollards around it, then left.”

Cllr Elliott returned to the scene at 6.30pm, following concerns from residents about visibility due to the fog.

Cllr Elliot added: “Being a bus route, I just thought it was dangerous.”

He failed to get through to Kent Highways, so alerted the police, who shut the road.

The road remained closed until today.
