Eleven carnival courts, some majorettes and a couple of decorated cars took part in Dover's illuminated carnival this evening.

Organised by Dover Carnival Association, the procession made its way around the town centre, watched by an appreciative crowd of people who lined various parts of the route.

Ramsgate carnival queen's float was judged the best, with other courts travelling to Dover from Sittingbourne, Teynham and even Hornsey in Essex.

As dusk fell, the illuminations on the floats made an impressive sight and majorettes from the Medway Silver Stars even had lights on their costumes.
