An outspoken Tory, whose offensive social media comments almost got him kicked out of his own party, has taken to twitter in a rant about "oil soaked sand peasants."

Conservative councillor Bob Frost tweeted a link to an article by the New Spectator that made numerous claims about a group of Saudi men.

The Dover district and Deal town councillor posted the tweet on Tuesday.

Cllr Frost said his comments on social media are freedom of speech.

He has come under fire before for his remarks. During the London riots he referred to “jungle bunnies," on Facebook, alluding to the people involved in the unrest.

The comment saw him suspended from the Conservative Party but he was later cleared of wrongdoing. The row also meant he left his job at Sir Roger Manwood’s School.

In August last year he also tweeted that Labour voters lived on “a diet of lard and fags” and that his shares in Israeli arms trade had gone up by 6%. This was criticised by the then Labour candidate for Dover and Deal, Clair Hawkins.

This resulted in the councillor being asked to stop tweeting in the run-up to the election, which he agreed to, until MP Charlie Elphicke was re-named MP of the constituency.

MP Charlie Elphicke said: "Clearly this is a matter for Dover District Council and Deal Town Council.

"I think it would not be right for me to interfere in their processes."
