Several hundred people attended Dover’s Armed Forces day ceremony and fun day.

The event, at Pencester Gardens on Saturday, was organised for the first time by the White Cliffs branch of the Royal British Legion.

The Last Post was sounded by RBL member Phil Hackett and a parade and salute took place.

Those providing the music included the ska band Hey Rudi.

Some got into the mood by dressing in period costume, as Land Girls or typical 1940s women and vintage vehicles on display were provided by Dover Transport Museum Society. Deal-based Forces Sweetheart KAS (Kelly Ann Sproul) also attended.

There were stalls run by the RBL and local air, sea and army cadets.

Visitors included Gurkha soldiers from Shorncliffe Camp in Folkestone and collections took place for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
