ROUND-the-world yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur is in Dover this weekend as part of a four-month round-Britain Voyage of Discovery.
Dame Ellen, together with five young people, set sail from Cowes on board the 48-foot yacht Scarlet Oyster.
The 2,000-nautical mile voyage will involve a total of 85 young people across 17 legs, stopping at 17 ports around Great Britain and finishing in Cowes on September 13.
The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged eight to18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer and leukaemia.
“I’m really excited about the summer ahead, spending time with the young people from the Trust and visiting different places around the UK for the first time since my first solo voyage around Britain in 1995,” said Dame Ellen, who is giving a series of talks along the way.
Dame Ellen was not on board the yacht when it arrived at Dover on Friday because she was unwell, but she was at The Ark Christian Centre on Saturday to give one of the talks.
