Dover Athletic manager Martin Hayes has insisted that all his players have an important part to play in the club's quest for promotion from Blue Square Bet South this season.

He said: "We have built a squad to challenge over a nine-month season.

"We have got 19 players and obviously some of them are on the bench at the moment and others are in the stand, but we need that many players over the course of the season, when injuries, suspensions and cup games come along and you’re playing Tuesday-Saturday every week.

"Hopefully the players all understand that and are up for the challenge of being part of a squad trying to compete in all competitions."

Whites host Basingstoke on Saturday and Hayes warned: "They are a tough team and will not be pushovers. They will make it hard for us.

"We can’t control how teams play against us at home - for a lot of them a point at Dover is like a win.

"We need our fans to be our 12th man and not play into the hands of the other team."

Donovan Simmonds (back) is Dover's only injury doubt, but Hayes hopes to have a full squad to choose from.
