Jake Leberl

Dover manager Andy Hessenthaler’s is believed to be chasing former Whites favourite Jake Leberl.

Leberl made more than 100 appearances at Crabble, and twice won the
Player-of-the-Year award, before joining Margate in August 2002.

The 32-year-old, who can play in midfield and defence, then played for Dagenham & Redbridge before joining AFC Wimbledon two years ago.

Leberl was a member of the Dons side which gained promotion from the Ryman League through the play-offs in 2008 and then played a key role in helping them win the Blue Square South title last season.

But Leberl, who lives at Bexleyheath, was released by the Dons last month and other clubs who may be interested in him include Welling United.

Hessenthaler’s need to boost his defensive options was underlined by the news that Ollie Schulz has been handed a three-match ban at the start of next season after being sent-off for violent conduct at Tonbridge on April 20.

Hessenthaler has also been charged by the FA with "improper conduct" after being sent from the touchline by the referee in the same game, but he has requested a personal hearing and the FA have yet to set a date.
