East Kent Against Fracking (EKAF) joined Lancashire campaigner, Gayzer Frackman, in Downing Street on Friday to deliver a letter to the Prime Minister challenging Government myths about the supposed benefits of fracking.
EKAF's Vice Chair, Julie Wassmer, who organised the Downing Street visit, said EKAF's comprehensive six page letter challenge the myths promulgated by the Government about local job creation and lower energy prices resulting from this industry.

She said: "On the contrary, we are very much aware that the dangers of fracking far outweigh any benefits, and so we were very pleased to take part in what has become a national protest with regular delegations from campaign groups hand delivering letters to the Prime Minister from as far afield as Manchester and Dorset."

On November 5 Gayzer Frackman of the campaign group, Frack Free Fylde, whose home was damaged by earthquakes caused by fracking in Lancashire, completed an epic 250 mile protest walk from Lytham St Annes to deliver his own letter to Downing Street, which was co-signed by campaigners from Balcombe, Somerset, Lancashire and Devon.

Mr Frackman and Ms Wassmer issued a joint statement at Downing Street on Friday.

They said: "The authorities may have removed the protest camp at Balcombe but they cannot remove the democratic right of communities to continue to knock on the Prime Minister's door every week from now on, with letters containing the true facts of fracking."
