Supporters, stewards, associates and friends were welcomed to the event.

Trustee John Mitchell said: “There have been changes. The stable has been refurbished to accommodate a new gallery displaying antique and vintage tools, with the original feeding trough and artefacts from storage that may not have been on display before.

“The re-carpeted exhibition area, now fitted with a reception desk, has a display of uniforms and artefacts, as well as a selection of souvenir china.

“Our boat yard is under refurbishment and hopefully will accommodate more unseen artefacts from storage, together with seating for visitors during sunny afternoons.”

The museum gallery has been rearranged to accommodate Tender Two, which saw action in the Second World War, and the central display cases have been moved to allow a more open aspect to the gallery.

Museum visitors are now offered refreshments and a selection of gifts for sale.

Mr Mitchell added: “The archives, with Anne Bailey as our archivist, are undergoing reclassification and will be operational later in the year. Also it is our intention to continue with a newsletter to all supporters.”

He appealed for more supporters, including someone with a trailer for the museum’s Deal Carnival entry.

The other trustees are Robert Acton, Martin Child, Sarah Child and Robin Green.
