The family of Alex Holland have carried out their own searches for his missing wallet, just days after his funeral.

The father of two was missing for 81 days before his body was discovered in water between Deal and Worth on February 17.

To date, his parents and the police have unable to locate his black leather wallet, which is understood to have contained a substantial quantity of money.

In a last ditch search, his father Mark and a friend went diving in the waist deep water next to the Hacklinge pumping station in Pinnock Wall, where he was found, on Sunday.

Using snorkels and nets, they searched for more than an hour but were unable to locate anything of significance.

Speaking to KentOnline, Mrs Holland said: "We know the wallet had a couple of hundred pounds in it and his driving licence.

"It wasn't on him and it wasn't in his car, so where is it?

"I believe somebody has got it."

The mum of three believes suspicious circumstances surround her son's death, although police are not investigating.

Her views are being supported by a medium psychic Mary Lawton Johnson who claims she told police where to find his body, and also makes claims he was murdered.

Mrs Holland says Alex, 27, was found wearing one slider - a backless, open toed shoe.

The other was found 10ft from where his hire car was found, approximately 1.5 miles away, in Worth.

His phone was also found in the car but there has been no suicide note.

Mrs Holland is awaiting the results of toxicology reports but is continuing to ask people to be vigilant and share any information they might have.

A funeral for Alex was held at Barham Crematorium on March 11 with the attendance of family and friends.

People wore something red in honour of the Arsenal fan - with J. Dilnot Smith & Son funeral directors also wearing red ties.

The family displayed pictures of Alex as both a child and adult and played Bob Marley's One Love, in honour of his love for his two daughters.

Mrs Holland said: "It a was a beautiful service.

"His sisters and I will be having some jewellery made using his ashes and I will save some for his daughters.

"We'd like to rest to be scattered at Cottington Lakes, if allowed, as that is where he liked to go fishing."

The family has since issued a message of thanks for people's support.

Writing on Help Find Alex Holland page on Facebook, they said: "I just wanted to send a heartfelt message of thanks to every single one of you that has helped us over the last 4/5 horrendous months, whether you shared, commented, searched or sent ideas across, you all helped us massively.

"We will never forget the support from our friends, family, our community and even strangers.

"We will never comes to terms with our loss, it just doesn't seem real at all but in the mean time we need to keep fighting to find out what happened."

Donations in memory of Alex's memory are being collected for Kent Search and Rescue.

Mrs Holland said: "These volunteers went out in all weathers to help look for Alex and we would like to be able to give a little back to them to show our appreciation."
