A Deal drug dealer, caught by a hidden camera, has been jailed for almost four years.
Canterbury Crown Court heard police had received a tip-off that more than half a kilo of heroin had been stashed in bushes near Cross Road, Walmer.
They installed a hidden camera, with a motion trigger device, in the bushes, and waited. When father-of-two Beau Williams, 32, arrived to collect the drugs – with a street value of nearly £50,000 – he was caught on camera.
Now Williams, a labourer, of Goodwin Close, Deal, has been jailed for three years and 10 months after he admitted possessing the class A drug intending to supply it to others.
Prosecutor Tom Dunn told Canterbury Crown Court that the camera showed Williams retrieving and removing containers from the undergrowth. He then replaced the containers and left the field.
On May 13 police removed the camera and checked the images and eight days later they retrieved the containers and discovered the heroin in more than 10 packages.
On February 4 police raided Williams’ home and arrested him. He refused to answer questions from detectives.
Mr Dunn told the court that police didn’t probe Williams’ mobile phones and therefore the CPS couldn’t say what his role was.
