Mouthwatering meals, provided free to financially vulnerable people, have been packed up and delivered to homes in Deal.

The aid parcels are courtesy of Meals on the Hill, an initiative set up by staff and volunteers at Deal Welfare Club who are in their third week of deliveries.

Thanks to £30,000 from the National Lottery and a donation from Dover District Council, Meals on the Hill is now providing three meals a week to up to 100 people who have registered with them.

The packages of three 'make your own' meals contain a variety of dishes. An example for next week includes: one refrigerated vegetable and cheese quiche for the first day, pulled pork with butternut squash and bean enchiladas for the second day and a hot dog kit which is the third meal. All parcels come with a selection of salad, new potatoes and fruit.

In July the club in Cowdray Square was awarded £30,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund to provide families in Deal with a hot meal food parcel each week for six months.

If you would like the help of Meals on the Hill, or to donate food for others, please phone 07724086434 between 10 am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
