Local lad Winston Showan was shown the Big Brother door in a shock double eviction last night, with only a week to go until the final.
The former Sandwich Technology pupil, who was dubbed the favourite to win throughout the competition, both inside and outside of the house, admitted to presenter Emma Willis he was a little surprised to be out.
He said: “I’m a little bit shocked but it’s just the way it is. I’m a bit gutted but I’ve made it 65 days.
“When I went in I thought I’d only make it to week four.”
Wearing a white blazer and jeans, the 27-year-old who has lived in Deal and St Margaret’s, left behind the six remaining and baffled housemates, telling them he loved them all.
The reality show contestants were so shocked they were convinced it was a fake eviction.
Following a positive reaction from the crowd, he posed with his muscles in the air and his thumbs up before an interview with Emma Willis where she thanked him for being an “absolute gentlemen” throughout his nine week stint.
He said: “It’s been the best time of my life.”
No longer the front-runner of the Channel 5 show, he was reunited with his mother, Lydia Showan, and love-interest Tamara Stewart-Wood, who was evicted in the first week.
Tamara later tweeted: "So so shocked @Winston_Showan left tonight! I can’t believe you left, you were an amazing housemate! Well done xxx #bbwinston #bbuk."
Other fans turned to social media to vent their shock, including English broadcaster and former Loose Women panellist Carol McGiffin.
She said: “I’ve just watched BB and I still can’t for the life of me work out why Winston got voted out.”
She added: “He was one of the least awful housemates ever!”
The reality show concludes with a live final on Friday, August 15 on Channel 5 at 9pm.
