Four teenage girls stormed a planning meeting at Deal Town Hall, brandishing cans of lager, swearing and intimidating councillors.

Deal Town Hall

Havoc broke out last Tuesday night (January 10) just before 7pm as seven councillors met in the chamber, where three members of the public were also present.

The meeting was due to discuss amendments to the Wetherspoon’s application for a pub in the town.

Cllr Wayne Elliott said: "Four young ladies, aged about 15 or 16 came into the chamber carrying cans of lager and it seemed they’d had a lot to drink already.

"They started using foul language and when the premises officer asked them to leave they became even more abusive.

"They told us we didn’t know what young people wanted and we didn’t provide anything for them to do in the town."

Police were called just as the rumpus continued and the girls began sitting in councillors’ seats and holding their own mock meeting.

Kent Police spokesman Amanda Wills said: "The four girls, three aged 15 and one aged 16, were spoken to about their behaviour by officers. No arrests were made."
