A shoe box appeal aimed at giving a little love to the homeless at Christmas will run for a third consecutive year.

Jaymie Dunster of Downs Road, Deal, is organising the appeal which she has branded the Give a little love campaign in aid of the Catching Lives homeless shelter in Canterbury.

The mum-of-one has collected more than 100 boxes thanks to support of readers since 2014. She hopes people will continue to be as generous as they have in the past.

She said: “For the people who are donating them, I hope they feel the way I do. They’re actually giving love in a box.

“It’s giving something to those less fortunate and it shows that people care.

She is asking for unisex boxes containing items such as hats, gloves, scarves, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, lip balm, chocolate and other edible goods.

She is also collecting biscuits and chews for homeless dogs.

Gifts should be presented in a wrapped box, with the lid separate, and handed into the East Kent Mercury office in Queen Street, Deal, Black Diamondz hair and beauty salon in Stanhope Road, M&Co in Deal High Street or the Community Church Deal in Victoria Road.

Miss Dunster will personally deliver them to the Catching Lives homeless shelter in Canterbury on Saturday, December 17.
