Army bomb disposal teams have been called to Dover after a grenade was found in the River Dour today.

People cleaning the river discovered the device - believed to date from the Second World War - this morning.

Kent Police officers were called to the scene, in Limes Road, at just after 11.30am.

Experts from the Royal Logistic Corps' bomb disposal squad were also spotted at the scene.

A controlled explosion was expected to be carried out this afternoon.

Volunteers often take part in clean-up sessions of the River Dour, but it is not clear if one of these found the grenade.
