Happy homes have been found for two cats at Kingsdown Cat Sanctuary following an influx of eleven to the home, last week.

The Mercury reported on the sudden inundation of the pets, which was putting a lot of extra strain on the sanctuary in Claremont Road.

Eight were found by a man and his family who were on a bike ride by Cinque Ports Golf Club on Wednesday and two days later a further four were discovered in Coldblow Woods.

Clare Baumberg who runs the sanctuary, made a plea for help, asking potential owners to come forward to home the cats who have been with them for months, in order to make room for the new felines, who are not fit to be re-homed yet.

She said: “It’s been fantastic, we’ve had a really good response, especially in terms of donations.

“We can’t let the cats go yet because they’re still terrified. I was able to stroke one of them, which was a bit of a breakthrough. We’ll get there slowly but it takes weeks, months.”

Mrs Baunberg said: “Thank you to the people who have helped and shown interest. It makes you feel better.”
