The temporary pedestrianisation of Deal High Street on Saturdays will remain in place for most of the winter.

The scheme was brought in to allow effective social distancing in the area that incorporates the bottom of King Street, Stanhope Road, St George's Road and Union Road.

The busiest part of Deal High Street will remain closed to traffic on Saturdays

Deal Town Council has now confirmed the measure will last until February 6, effective each Saturday between 10am and 2pm.

A spokeswoman said: "This is to enable residents and visitors to the High Street to maintain social distancing at the busiest time of the week."
