A former Miss Teen Great Britain competitor is opening up about life as a new mum and her ADHD diagnosis ahead of her return to pageantry.
Kerys Squire, 23, from Deal, has been competing on stage since she was 16, promoting female empowerment and body confidence.
Since having her daughter Luna-Mae in October 2021, she feels that message has never been more important.
In July, at just nine months post partum, she will be taking to the stage to compete in the UK's National Miss Pageant run by Holly Louise Pirrie.
Thanks to her sponsors Bargain Hunter UK and support from her family, she'll be taking her little one along for inspiration.
She said: "I’ve chosen to return to pageantry with an important message to share.
"That message has stemmed from having Luna-Mae.
"I want her to grow up to be proud and celebrate who she is and what makes her different.
"I want her to feel empowered by watching me do exactly that.
"In a world where our children grow up surrounded by filters and the want to be perfect, I want her to feel proud and love who she is, including her imperfections - not that she has any in my eyes!
"I also want to empower mothers to feel proud of their bodies and what they have created and show that just because we are mums, that’s not all we are destined to be."
'I have kept my ADHD diagnosis a secret for years'
Miss Squire is also using her platform to raise awareness of ADHD having kept her own diagnosis, given at primary school, a secret until now.
She said: "I have kept it a secret for years."
Her mum had her assessed following concentration issues at school.
She said: "I've realised it's important to talk about it and raise awareness.
"We don't need to be ashamed."
Miss Squire gained her first title as Miss Teen Face of the Year in 2014.
The Eurostar International steward, who is currently on maternity leave, was then selected as a finalist in the UK heat of Face of The Globe where she travelled to Disneyland Paris to compete against about 200 others.
Her Miss Teen Face of the Year title involved travelling around the country, meeting celebrities and raising the profile of the contest.
She met and was pictured with James Bond star Daniel Craig at the premiere of Spectre, cricket legend Andrew Flintoff and TOWIE star Sam Faiers.
She then went on to be named Miss Teen Fresh Face in 2015.
In November 2016, she competed in Miss European, representing Ireland. She was placed as deputy Irish princess.
In March 2017, she placed as third runner up in the UK Galaxy Pageant, which has led her to entering Miss Teen Great Britain.
In the run up to UK's National Miss Pageant competition, she will be holding charity events to raise money for The Christie Charity, which provides cancer care, and making public appearances.
