Karen Stupples makes her second Solheim Cup appearance this weekend when Europe take on the United States at Killeen Castle Golf Club in Ireland.

And the 38-year-old from Deal, who now lives in Florida, is determined to erase the memory of what happened when she made her debut in women’s golf’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup back in 2005.

Then, like this time, Stupples (pictured) was a wildcard selection for the European team who were beaten 15.5-12.5 by the USA at Crooked Stick GC in Indiana.

Stupples featured in only two matches – losing both – and admitted: "I only knew I was in the team a couple of weeks beforehand and then, when I only got two matches, I felt a bit like a spare part."

But the 2004 British Open champion can expect to play a bigger role over the next three days after confirming her consistent form this season with another strong performance last weekend.

Stupples took her earnings on the US Women’s Tour this season to $326,319 after winnning $60,800 for finishing tied fourth, her highest position of the year, in the Navistar LPGA Classic at Prattville, Alabama.

Stupples finished on 10-under-par 278, seven shots behind winner American Lexi Thompson and said: "This has been a good, solid year and I’m at the point where I don’t have to worry about what my swing is doing.

"I feel like I am going (to the Solheim Cup) knowing I’ve got everything I need and that my only focus needs to be on adjusting to the course and the conditions and to learning who I am going to play with.

"I know I am playing well, so the whole experience should be better than last time."
