Machinery which is used to repair railway lines was set on fire in the early hours of this morning near Coldblow in Walmer.

Kent Fire and Rescue teams from Deal were called to the scene at 6am to reports that someone had set the machine on fire.

The large piece of railway equipment has rubber wheels and rail track wheels to go along the railway.

Firefighters put the fire out using a hose reel and watch manager Paul Evans said it took around 20 minutes.

He added: "It's got an oil reserve and if that catches fire it wouldn't be as straight forward to put it out.

"It is being treated as suspicious."
