Dover businessman David Little believes the town is well worth investing in and that it has a bright future.

David, who owns publishing company Graphic Images in Castle Street is passionate about the district, and has recently become the Dover and Deal parliamentary candidate for UKIP.

The former Dover Grammar School for Boys student lives in Beach Street, Deal.

He has a passion for the area and would like to see more development.

“I would like the journey from the seafront to the town to be more welcoming,”he said.

A new marina, a cable car and better links with the seafront and the town centre are just some of the things Mr Little feels Dover is in need of.

The recent focus for David has revolved around the Dover Town Investment Zone petition, which his friend, Alan Shirley started.

From the back window of David’s Castle Street shop is the evidence of what he feels is the neglected St James’ development. Arguably, it is why he feels so strongly about it.

The petition has been put in place to get Dover District Council to hold a public meeting telling people why “not one brick has been laid” in more than 12 years.

David said: “Let’s hope that the St James’ development will provide a massive revelation for Dover.”

On a more positive note, he added: “The potential for the area is massive.

“Dover Castle is one of the top 10 visitor attractions in the county, along with the White Cliffs.

“I am a local man with a passion for local issues.”

David has two children, who are 24 and 26-years-old. Both live elsewhere due to working commitments, but they do make regular visits back to their hometown.

“They love the town and come back regularly” he added.

His past has consisted of being a member of the Dover Town Team and he was heavily involved with setting up the Bluebirds Market, which takes place on Tuesdays in the Market Square.

When asked where he wants to be in five years, David is certain of his hopes: “Four years into a five year term of being MP of Dover and Deal.

“If you don’t believe you can do it, then no one will,” he said.
