Reports that Hornbeam Primary School was broken into last night have been quashed by police.

They have confirmed it was a false alarm and no offences have been reported.

Concerned nearby residents in Mongeham Road, Deal, took to Facebook after hearing the school alarm sounding around midnight.

Ashleigh Gilbert posted on Facebook close to that time: “The alarm’s been going off for about 30 minutes now. Police have just arrived.”

Many believed the educational building had been burgled, however police feel assured nothing has been stolen.

A police spokesman said: “An alarm was triggered at the school at around midnight, but it was a false alarm, no offences reported.”
