Bad weather failed to stop Deal Carnival being another brilliant night of colourful entertainment.

Crowds still lined the pavements along the route and umbrellas came out in force with some inventive collectors using their buckets for temporary rain hats.

Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown Regatta Association chairman John Trickey paid: “It was a brilliant night and I am so proud of the people of Deal and Walmer, as well as everyone else, for supporting us.

“An audience always makes a carnival and the rain wasn’t that bad in the end.”

Mr Trickey added that there were less large lorries used as floats this year, although there were more walking entries.
