Coastguard rescue helicopter called as person pulled from sea in Deal

A man has been airlifted to hospital after being pulled from the sea in Deal.

Shortly before midday the Coastguard received a call from police asking for help after somebody was spotted in the water near Sandown.

The coastguard rescue team from Deal and RNLI lifeboats from Walmer were sent to help along with the Coastguard helicopter from Lydd.

Paramedics from South East Ambulance Service also attended.

The person was recovered by Walmer lifeboat and taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford by the rescue helicopter.

Kent Police has been approached for comment.
