The volunteer crew of Walmer RNLI Lifeboat were called to assist a fishing boat and her skipper who were left stranded yesterday afternoon (Wednesday)
The man got into trouble after the boat's propeller became fouled when a rope got caught in the mechanism while fishing east of the Zetland Arms at Kingsdown.
The skipper put out a mayday call which was picked up by the Coastguard.
The crew from Walmer Lifeboat was paged just before 3pm and Walmer’s lifeboat Duggie Rodbard II was launched.
Helmsman Dan Sinclair proceeded to the fishing boat’s position, where he was able to put one of his crew aboard the vessel to rig a tow line.
The fishing boat and its lone skipper were both towed safely back to its beach plot at Walmer.
