Joggers set out in style this morning to compete in the tenth and last New Year’s Day Bra Run, in aid of Breast Cancer Care.
The 167 keen fundraisers dressed in an assortment of colourful bras were unmissable on the promenade.
The event organised by Sally Scoggins has raised £27.500 for Breast Cancer Care since 2005. This year was Sally’s last year of organising it.
She said: “It’s a huge commitment, we’ve done ten years now and if we reach our £30,000 target, we will end on a high. It’s been very emotional.”
Local fitness instructor Abi Reynaert led a warm up, limbering up participants for the 3 mile run.
The walkers and runners set off from the scout hut opposite the paddling pool at 11am, turned at Cecil Road near Kingsdown, with the finishing line back at the scout hut.
First to finish was Deal Tri athlete Theo Bately, 51 in a time of 18 minutes 39 seconds.
He said: “I’m fairly happy with that time, the wind slowed me down but it’s a bit of New Year’s Day fun and all for a good cause.”
