Sandwich and England women's cricketer Tammy Beaumont

Tammy Beaumont has the chance to give a ‘gentle reminder’ to the England women’s cricket selectors this weekend.

The 19-year-old Sandwich Town wicketkeeper plays for the England Academy side against the full England team at Kibworth in Leicestershire in a warm-up game for the England squad before the start of their Twenty20 and One-Day International series against New Zealand.

Beaumont (pictured) was in the England squad which toured India earlier this year but didn’t do enough to dislodge Sarah Taylor from her position as England’s No.1 wicketkeeper.

Now back home in Cliffsend after recently completing her first year of a three-year degree course at Loughborough University, Beaumont said: "I’m slightly disappointed not to be in the squad this time but all I can do is to keep working hard, especially on my batting.

"It didn’t help breaking my thumb in pre-season when I tripped over while running."

After captaining the Loughborough team to second place in this year’s university championship, she will be concentrating on county and club cricket during her summer break.

Tammy was in the Kent Ladies’ side who beat Nottinghamshire by 78 runs last week and at the weekend, she played in two club matches.

On Saturday she was in the Sandwich 2nd XI side, along with her father Kevin and brother Michael, who beat Holmesdale 2nds in the Shepherd Neame Kent League and then on Sunday, Beaumont blasted an unbeaten 140 to lead Bexley Ladies to victory over Shepperton.
