Motorists heading for the Port of Dover continue to face disruption as the strike by SeaFrance workers enters its sixth day.

SeaFrance cancelled all its sailings over the weekend because of industrial action by French union members.

Operation Stack was introduced on Good Friday morning, but was lifted later that afternoon.

The strike action came on one of the busiest weekends for the port as people headed to the continent for the Easter holidays.

Initially, SeaFrance ferries were only taking tourist traffic, and no freight, but this escalated into a total standstill. One ferry was stranded outside Calais harbour as the company's other two ferries were occupying both the berths which SeaFrance use at the French port.

The strike, which is over the introduction of new working practices, is not now expected to end until 8.15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7.

People are being advised to check with their travel operator being embarking on their journeys and to listen to KMfm for further information.
