Snow tubing is just one of the new and exciting activities on offer at Betteshanger Park this Christmas.

The park near Deal has produced a stellar programme of outdoors fun to keep families active and energised throughout the dark winter months.

It includes cycling sessions and snow cave exploring but the one activity on everyone’s lips is the exhilarating snow tubing, which happens between Thursday, December 21 through to Monday, January 1.

Organisers say no special skills are needed but you must be aged five or over to take part. Just jump on the tube and enjoy the ride down the 18m-long man-made slope on a large inflatable ring.

It costs £5 for three goes. Booking is recommended. All safety equipment will
be provided.

Marketing and communications manager Lynnette Crisp said: “It’s guaranteed to bring out the kid in everyone.”

If the heights and speed leave people feeling weak at the knees, they can keep their feet a bit nearer to the ground by clambering through more than 100m of specially created snow caves hidden beneath an artificial ski slope.

The cave experience is available over the same dates as the snow tubing and also costs £5. It will take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Under-8s will need to be accompanied by an adult for both snow activities.

When you’ve had enough of the white stuff, there will still be plenty of mud and tarmac to play with. Betteshanger Park bosses say its 250-acre traffic-free environment is ideal for putting new wheels to the test.

Families can take a leisurely cycle around the smooth track or hit the mountain bike trails for some adrenalin-pumping action.

If confidence levels need a bit of a helping hand, there will be group Learn to Ride sessions, perfect for those who get bikes for Christmas. These are on Wednesday, December 27, Friday, December 29 and Sunday, December 31. Sessions cost £12.50 for one hour or £30 for three sessions.

Advance cycle coaching will run from Wednesday, December 27, through to Monday, January 1 by arrangement. It costs £25 per session.
