Cricketer Tammy Beaumont faces a busy start to the new year after being named in the England Women’s 15-strong squad for next month’s trip to India.

The 18-year old Kent wicketkeeper, who lives at Sandwich, retains her place after making her international bow in the one-day and Twenty20 series against the West Indies in the Caribbean in November, scoring 43 runs from four innings with the bat and claiming four catches and two stumpings.

She said: "I’m looking forward to 2010 and a lot more challenges which lie ahead.

"I had always dreamed about playing for England since I was 10 and being there singing the national anthem on my debut was brilliant.

"It was a great learning experience but batting down the order was a different challenge for me and there is also room for improvement with the gloves."

Tammy, who is studying chemistry and sports science at Loughborough University, links up with the rest of the England squad for a training camp there this weekend and will train once a week at Edgbaston before the party leave for the three-week tour.

The squad arrive in Bangalore on February 15 to play five one- day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals.

They return on March 10, the day before Tammy celebrates her 19th birthday.
