Port of Dover

Two men have been arrested at the Port of Dover on suspicion of being involved in terrorism.

The British pair - aged 22 and 29 - were stopped by Kent Police officers, who also seized ammunition, yesterday morning.

Scotland Yard said they were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

The men, who arrived at Dover from Calais, are being held under the Terrorism Act and remain in police custody for questioning today.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the arrests relate to suspected terrorism overseas.

An investigation has been launched by the force's Counter Terrorism Command, he said.

Search warrants have been executed at an address in east London and in connection with two vehicles.
