The semi-final saw P&O along with three other working choirs put through to the celebration concert, due to be aired on Sunday.

P&O spokesman Brian Rees said: "We're on cloud nine here.

“The odds were stacked against us getting through to the final, that it is testament to the incredible amount of hard work our singers have put in..." - Brian Rees, from P&O

"The biggest single challenge for us is getting our choir together as some work on board a week at a time, some are on day shifts in shore jobs, some on night shifts, one works in Calais.

"So getting them together to rehearse is a logistical nightmare. They can't just grab an hour together after work at the end of the day to practice - that just isn't an option for them.

"The upside of this is that when they do manage to get together, their time together is precious so they certainly make the most of it."

He added: "Remember we had a bit of a rocky start, with the judges being quite critical of our first performance on board.

"Only we know the amount of work that has gone in to produce the performance of Sinnerman that got us through to the final and we're extremely proud of our singers.

"We'll be glued to our TVs on Sunday evening for the final."

P&O's tuneful workers have won BBC's eight part series, Sing While You Work

The final will be aired on BBC 2 on Sunday at 9pm.
