Thousands in tribute to Royal Marines

Thousands of people stood in silence to remember the 11 Royal Marines killed by the IRA in a Kent town.

The bandsmen died in the bombing of the Royal School of Music in Deal in September, 1989.

Their names were read out at the Deal Memorial Bandstand, built in memory of the servicemen.

The ceremony on Sunday was followed by a concert of traditional marches and music from shows and blockbuster films on the bandstand by the Royal Marines, attended by 6,500 to 7,000 people.
