The tour guide who allegedly booked a Deal man onto the waterfall activity that led to his death is being questioned by police.
Christian Sloan, 25, of Walmer Way, died in a tragic accident on Friday after it is believed the safety harness he was using failed.
It is believed he was canyoning up the Dantala waterfall in the Lam Dong province, Vietnam.
Today, a national newspaper has reported that the guide is not accepting liability for the incident, which also claimed the lives of two women from Sheffield, 25-year-old Beth Anderson and her half-sister Izzy Squire, 19.
The former Royal Navy seaman was described as a "true legend" by the hundreds of people who have paid tribute to him.
Mr Sloan's parents said: "Christian's death is a very sad loss to us. He was a very popular young man, formerly in the Royal Navy, who had many, many friends not just locally but around the world. He lived for life."
Alan McGlashan, the father of one of Christian’s friends, posted on Facebook: “The full details are not known at the moment, but it seems some harness equipment they were using failed.
“I know this will come as a bombshell to lose a friend so young. James my son is still in Vietnam, and hopes to eventually fly back with Christian, once all the arrangements have been made.”
The family is said to be flying out to Vietnam on Monday.
