Yvonne McGroddy, 46, banned from road after drink-drive smash in Deal

A woman has been banned from the road for two years after a driving from the scene of an accident while more than three time the alcohol limit.
Yvonne Bridget McGroddy, 46, of Wellington Road, Deal, denied drink-driving despite giving a reading of 112 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35mg. She pleaded guilty to failing to stop after a road accident when she drove a Nissan Micra in Canada Road, Walmer, and collided with another car.
Folkestone magistrates disqualified McGroddy and ordered her to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. She must also pay £600 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
Her ban can be reduced by six months if she satisfactorily completes a course approved by the Secretary of State by September 16 next year.
