Police receive animal cruelty report after youths allegedly abuse dogs in The Strand, Walmer

Police have been alerted to accusations of animal cruelty after two teenagers allegedly abused dogs they were walking.

Officers were called after an alleged incident in The Strand, Walmer, yesterday afternoon.

Pictures of two youths thought to be those at the centre of the allegations were also circulated on Facebook, with one woman claiming she had filmed the abuse.

The dogs were being walked along The Strand in Walmer

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “We were called at 7.10pm on Friday, March 20, in relation to an incident which had happened in The Strand, Walmer, earlier that afternoon.

“Two youths had allegedly hurt some dogs they were walking.

“The owner of the dogs has been advised that incidents of animal cruelty should be reported to the RSPCA.”

One of the dogs is believed to be a Patterdale terrier cross Staffordshire bull terrier puppy.

Klare Kennett from the RSPCA said: “We have had a call about this. An inspector is looking into it."

If anyone saw it, they are asked to call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
