Dover boss Andy Hessenthaler said despite realising the club’s goal of reaching the play-offs, failure to secure promotion would still come as a massive disappointment.

Dover secured their play-off berth, and remain favourites for second spot after beating Weymouth 2-0 on Saturday, their eighth successive win in Blue Square South.

Hessenthaler (pictured) said: "Eight wins out of eight is a fantastic achievement and it means we have achieved what we set out to do at the start of the season.

"We have done the first bit – now the real hard work starts. The aim now is to try and win it. We are not going to rest on what we’ve done now, it would be a dream come true to go up for the third year in a row.

"We have definitely got four games left and hopefully that will become five.

"After what’s happened it would be disappointing not to go up."

Dover visit champions Newport on Saturday and Hessenthaler could shuffle his pack with an eye on the play-offs.
