Immediate action is being demanded after residents in Cavell Square, Deal, sited a large static caravan in a back garden without planning permission.

Neighbours have described it as an “eyesore” that should be on a caravan site instead of in a quiet residential area. And they are calling on the district council to enforce immediate removal. A planning application to Dover District Council was received on February 7 asking for permission to use the static home as an annex for elderly parents.

But residents are calling it a monstrosity that must be moved.

A meeting was held on Tuesday where objectors discussed action.

The Mercury has not been able to talk to the owners about the application.

On DDC’s planning site, 25 out of 26 comments are against. Louise Revell said: “Surely this monstrosity needs to be removed straight away.

“No planning has been granted nor should it be granted.

“This type of caravan needs to be sited on a proper site like Martin Mill or Sutton Vale.”

Others claim the application is deceiving because the applicants have not told the council the static caravan can be seen from the public right of way.

Deal Town Council has recommended DDC refuse the plans because of loss of amenity space, it is out of keeping and character with the area, not appropriate for the street scene and it is against the DDC Core Strategy.

Next-door neighbour Paul Eversfield supports the application. He said: “The mobile home does not impact on my property.

“My neighbours have attempted to canvas the view points of all immediate properties before proceeding with their application.”
