A Zumbathon is being planned at Dover Leisure Centre next month to raise money for a four-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Fitness in the Community provider Fitness Frenzi has teamed up with the leisure centre to raise funds for the Hope for Jayden campaign. The zumbathon will take place on Sunday evening November 10.
Doctors have said that Jayden may only have about a year to live, but his parents, Sue and Mike Wilson, are appealing for support in the hope that he will survive.
The family live in Basingstoke but Jayden's aunt and uncle live in Dover and are organising the local fund-raising activities.
It was on August 28 that Jayden fell and bumped his head. He then became unsteady on his feet and was taken to North Hampshire Hospital for a CT scan.
As a result of what they found, Jayden was immediately rushed to Southampton Children’s Hospital where top neuro brain specialists carried out an MRI scan.
A biopsy confirmed that Jayden has a grade four brain stem tumour.
“We are reaching out to the world for hope and energy in believing our beautiful little boy will survive this and have a normal life,” said Mr and Mrs Wilson in their appeal. They also have a daughter Ella.
“Please help. All monies donated will help to create some memories for the family and achieve some of Jayden’s wishes.”
Fitness Frenzi owner Chris Hillary said; “This is a really special chance for everyone to get down to the sports centre on November 10 and support a family in need. We will certainly share some amazing energy for Jayden.”
Fitness Frenzi regularly raise money for local causes. Over the past year Chris and his clients have been able to fund a girl from Dover to attend weight loss camp in Bradford where she lost a stone in three weeks. The 13-year-old is now a regular visitor to Chris’s zumba classes.
The Hope for Jayden Zumbathon is being held at Dover Leisure Centre on Sunday November 10 at 6.15pm for an hour. Those attending will make a donation of £5 to take part and they are asked to wear something red as it is Jayden’s favourite colour.
