Betteshanger Cricket Club sets sights on Lord's final

Betteshanger are through to the regional finals of the ECB indoor 6-a-side cricket championship at Canterbury on Sunday.

Bettes, the Kent champions, will meet Essex champions Fives & Heronians in the second semi-final at 3.15pm. The first semi-final at 2pm will feature Harrow St Mary’s (Middlesex) against MK Azad (Bucks) or Pyrford (Surrey).

The final will be held at 4.45pm, with the matches taking place in the Kent County Cricket Academy at the St Lawrence Ground.

The winners on Sunday will qualify for the national finals at the Indoor School at Lord’s on Sunday, March 14.

Betteshanger booked their place in the regional finals by winning their regional county play-off with Sussex champions Crawley by five wickets.

After being put in, Crawley made 98-6 from 10.5 overs, with Betteshanger skipper Derek Towe claiming 3-27 in three overs.

Betteshanger then coasted to 100-1 in 8.5 overs to post a five-wicket success, with Martin Cheeseman and Liam Collins both making 25 not out.
